Biopsy
If we suspect you have oral cancer or another pathogenic dental condition, Dr. Gradoville may recommend an oral biopsy. A biopsy procedure involves taking a small sample of gum or tissue from your mouth and sending it to a lab. An analysis of the sample can allow for accurate diagnoses of:
- Ulcers, sores or lesions in your mouth or on your gums
- White or red patches on your gums
- Gum swelling that is persistent or chronic
- Gum changes that may be causing loose teeth or dentures
Biopsies are often used alongside imaging technology, such as X-rays.
After analysis a diagnosis for a dental disease or other condition is made based on the results. We will make recommendations and work with you to restore your oral health.
